5 Benefits of Women Attending a Ladies Only Dirt Bike Clinic, Ride or Campout
– Submitted Article
If you are not a lady – send your wife, girlfriend, daughter…
There is no doubt that it can be intimidating to be a lady dirt biker the first time, for some it can even be intimidating every time! Rolling up to the track or trails by yourself hoping you meet some cool people to ride with can be hard. So why not put yourself in situations where you are forced to push through and meet other ladies while honing those badass skills!
Friends
There is zero chance you are going to attend any ladies-only clinic, ride or event, and not go home with a few new friends who rip at the same level as you or sometimes, even better, at a higher level. You need these friends more than you know, so keep the phone numbers, stay in touch and line up more ride time!
Don’t be shy either, talk to others, they are there for the same reasons as you and you already know you have dirt bikes in common. She probably also likes dogs just as much as you!
Confidence
Whether you have a master on a bike teaching you how to rip through a matrix or are just eating another really fast rider’s dust through the trails, chances are you are going to roll home feeling pretty damn proud of yourself. Like you accomplished something big on the bike that day. There’s always the added bonus of when you have always wanted to try something but haven’t had the direction to know the right gear, body position etc. and you finally go for it and achieve it! Celebrate that, girl! Small victories can go a long way!
Laughs
There is no doubt about it that you are going to fall over at any, or all, of these events! You are going to crash (hopefully only little ones). You’ll see others do the same. At the end of it all, you will be tossing around the memories of the day and laughing about the good times with your new mates. The bruises will be worth it, the laughs will make them not matter as much and you will feel like the warrior rider you are.
Skills
This one is huge! It’s part of why we ride right? No matter what level you’re at sometimes all you can think about is that next progression session, even while you wait for your morning coffee in the Starbucks drive-thru. That log you didn’t make it over last weekend or hill you couldn’t quite make it up is haunting you. That’s ok! Head to a clinic, ride or campout and all of a sudden you will have someone helping you figure out that last step you were missing to bring it all together. You’ll have a cheer team that doesn’t want to see you fail, and that log or hill won’t stand a chance!
Bike Knowledge
Yes! A lot of ladies out there have their own personal mechanic on standby, whether their husband, boyfriend, or dad, but some of us aren’t so blessed and have to figure that sucker out on our own. A bike manual can go a long way, but most of the time seeing is believing. Most clinics and ladies events have someone available who will either schedule time to go through basic bike maintenance with ladies who are interested or sometimes just a single mechanic who you can ask for help. This guy usually has a lot of patience and will talk you through the process of why something just wasn’t quite right. Don’t think they’ll work miracles, it’s limited usually but soak that knowledge up like a sponge.
Bonus!
There will usually be free swag! Who doesn’t like that! You’ll get to go home with something awesome to show that all the anxiety you felt on the way to the event and worry about doing something you’ve never accomplished before really did happen! Aside from swag, you will also get to see some new epic riding areas and reach new heights on that bike of yours.
Overall…
These events create a comfortable environment where you can ask all the questions you feel were dumb and no one will care because the lady beside you probably was wondering the exact same thing! You’ll have tons of fun and be feeling stellar and stoked to ride again. So get to it sister, and find the one nearest you!
