2019 Mudhunniez: All Girls Weekend Recap

Mudhunniez: All Girls Weekend
A Kickass Event
Written By: Jordana Clark

The number of ladies getting on a bike is vastly growing; ladies weekends like the Mudhunniez’s create a positive and supportive atmosphere that are helping see that number grow more and more. This year the Mudhunniez All Girls weekend saw numbers close to 75! Taking place on Vancouver Island but bringing ladies from as far as Calgary, Alberta! Here are the details on this amazing event…

What to Expect
Friday is the day all the ladies arrive, and we can say from experience, everyone arrived damn stoked to be there! From the moment you arrive at the destination, you are greeted by the happy faces of the ladies from the Mudhunniez and all their great volunteers. They help you get signed in, pass out awesome swag which included an event branded water bottle and tee plus some great stuff from one of their sponsors, FXR. After sign in, you have the choice to get settled or go tear up the trails…we chose to ride of course.

Ride Day
Saturday is the day of adventure and learning! The day kicked off with a dirty little yoga session in the sand, the instructor had the ladies giggling as they limbered up to her quirky jokes and dirty toosh. After the yoga session, the Mudhunniez made sure to accommodate all levels of riding from girls who rented and rode a bike for the very first time (gear and lessons included!) to ladies who have been ripping for years and everything in between. Championship winning Husqvarna rider Lexi Pechout was in attendance, teaching three different level clinics over the 2 days, ensuring all ladies went home with new tricks up their sleeves. (Her clinics are the bomb!)

If you weren’t taking a clinic in one of the various levels you had the chance to rip the awesome trails of Whiskey Creek, either with a trail guide or a riding buddy. The Mudhunniez meticulously marked all the trails based on rider level making it easy to navigate.

Food was supplied and what a feast! These ladies went all out to make sure everyone felt spoiled. Lunch was served as a delicious sandwich packs and hand made fudge from a fellow rider and local business on the island and the snacks kept going all day long with fruits, banana bread and more. When dinner rolled around the Mudhunniez had 39 Panago pizzas delivered to the remote location and cupcakes topped with mini moto riders for the win! The prizes, games and socializing followed. It was exciting, fun and relaxing after a big day of riding.

…on the food train (cause the riding was amazing but who doesn’t love food?!), you had no need to worry about staying hydrated! There were virgin mojitos with fresh fruit being passed around and fresh drinking water for days.

Sunday Funday…and departure day
The saddest day of all! If you were feeling sore from the day before you had another chance to stretch it out in the dirt with some early morning yoga. Followed by a trip to the fields and hills where Lexi Pechout hosted the most technical clinic and got the ladies to really test their skills. Meanwhile, back at camp, all other ladies had the opportunity to get more seat time on the amazing trails. Unfortunately, it was also time to say goodbye and hit the road for the trek home, so after a great morning ride most packed up and started the travels home.

Highlights
Coming from Alberta a highlight of this trip was the terrain, the trails were similar but different – the foliage was phenomenal with ferns growing over your height while standing on your pegs through the trails and lush thick forest. It was epic!

The prizes! The prize table was P.I.M.P! These ladies spared nothing trying to ensure every single girl went home with something badass to commemorate their trip from tires and action cams to stickers and everything else. The Mudhunniez had some amazing support!

Summary
Overall this really was one for the ladies! A fine-tuned amazing event that the ladies of the Mudhunniez should be proud of. From the smiles rolling off the trails and away from the clinics I would say a damn good time was had by all.

If you are a lady, love to ride and want to make the trip (just do it!) this is one you should not miss in 2020. In the meantime don’t hesitate to make the trip and try one of the races hosted on the island or hit up the Munhunniez ride day coming up in September.
